5 Edmonton Must-See Summer Festivals

5 Must-Visit Summer Festivals in Edmonton

If the last stretch of hot temperatures didn’t give it away, then the start of festival season will confirm it: summer has arrived!

One of the best things about summer in Edmonton is the variety of festivals and events that take over our city. Below you’ll find our top five picks for must-visit summer festivals this year. Check them out and get ready for some outstanding music, food, and fun-packed adventures!

Taste of Edmonton

For 33 years, Taste of Edmonton has won over crowds with its huge variety of culinary delights from some of our city’s most celebrated eateries. The festival has grown to become the largest food festival in Canada, and also features fantastic musical acts (30 in total!) to enjoy while you’re digging into your food. The festival runs from July 20-29, 2017 in Sir Winston Churchill Square.

Interstellar Rodeo

From July 21-23, Hawrelak Park’s Heritage Amphitheatre becomes the setting for one of Edmonton’s newest music festivals. Celebrating its 6th anniversary, Interstellar Rodeo is quickly becoming the not-to-miss event of summer. And once again, the line-up doesn’t disappoint this year with a great assortment of performers from a variety of genres.

K-Days

We can’t talk about summer festivals in Edmonton and not include K-Days! From July 21-30 head down to Northlands for some classic family-fun, complete with rides that will get your adrenaline pumping, world-class musical artists, and all the fair food that your heart could desire!

Edmonton Folk Music Festival

As one of the leading folk festivals in the world, Edmonton Folk Music Festival has become a summer staple for many in our city and beyond. From August 10 – 13, you can kick back in beautiful Gallagher Park and take in some of the top folk music acts in the world. Check out the full lineup here

Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival

The vibrant neighbourhood of Old Strathcona plays host to the incredible Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival each year. With over 1,500 artists traveling to Edmonton to participate in the oldest (and largest!) Fringe Festival in North America, it’s no wonder why this festival can’t be missed. Treat yourself and your family to over 1,600 performances across more than 45 venues from August 17-27.
